The McKinley Children's Center offers programs and services for at-risk children who have been affected by abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Every child at McKinley has lived through extreme trauma. Their difficult, often horrendous, childhood experiences have left them confused, angry and afraid. Most need help in virtually every aspect of life: learning to play, learning to trust, learning to take care of themselves and get along with others. Life Pacific College students have been invited to participate in "chapel activities" led by the new chaplain at the McKinley center. Students have opportunities every week to support and spend time with residents of McKinley. The center is located within walking distance to the college. |

Schedule
Sunday 6:30pm – chapel service open to the community
Mon 6:30-7:15pm – interactive scriptural study
Tue 6:30-7:15pm – coloring
Wed 6:30-7:15pm – board game night
At each event the students have snacks and listen to a Praise and Worship CD. It is a chance for them to spend some time out of their cottages and interact with others. If you are 21 years old, you may volunteer some extra time and become a mentor to one or more of the residents. Please let me know if you are interested.

Life students have the opportunity to volunteer at various events at Lone Hill Middle School (located directly across the street from our campus). We have been invited to help out at open houses, school dances, and any other schoolwide activities with which we can lend a hand. This is a great chance for students to be a visible presence in our community, as well as build relationship with local students and their parents. |

This is a weekly service-oriented outreach that takes place at the mobile home park directly behind the college. The goal is to build relationships with the people in the neighboring communities by serving them. Tasks are tailored to individual need, but have included weeding, painting, tutoring, and/or helping with chores that someone may not be able to do alone. It is a way to show God's love through tangible action. |

The Dream Center ministry is located in the heart of poverty, hopelessness, and violence in the Los Angeles area. Poverty and addictions have sent many to live on the streets. Gang members actively recruit young children into lives of violence and drugs. The Dream Center ministry is dedicated to helping the inner-city by meeting both tangible and spiritual needs. Some examples include providing food, clothing, shelter, life rehabilitation, education, job training, and biblical training. |

The ACCEPT program is a weekly ministry that takes place at the Rowland Unified School District in cities close to the college. Volunteers work with young pregant teenagers who have chosen to stay in school but often do not have a partner with which to go through a lamaze class. Students from Life Pacific College regularly visit these young women and provide that support and encouragement, often participating in the birth process. |

We are always looking for ways to serve our local community. Therefore, volunteering at a community event organized by the San Dimas city council is one of the many ways a student may participate in outreach. There are always a few opportunities on the horizon. Let us know if you are interested in helping out! |
